Greater Manchester Urgent Dental Care Telephony and Clinical Services

NHS England (GMH&SCP) is responsible for commissioning the complete pathway for Dentistry which includes Primary, Secondary, Community and Urgent Dental Care. Following a recent procurement, a new Greater Manchester Urgent Dental Care Service will commence from 1st October 2019.

How can this service be accessed?

Patients can call this telephone number 0333 332 3800 from 8am to 10pm every day of the year.

Following triage, patients will be offered a same day or next day appointment, given advice or signposted to other services. Appointments will be confirmed by text message.

Covid -19 Update

Due to the current situation during the Covid-19 pandemic, the service is experiencing an exceptionally high number of calls which means wait times on the phone lines have increased significantly.

Face to face appointments are also still limited due to ongoing COVID – 19 safety measures (although volumes are slowly increasing).

We ask that you are patient and courteous with the telephony staff as we are doing all we can to support the increase in demand.

Thank you for your patience during this difficult time.

What happens from 10pm to 8am when the new telephony service is not available?

Patients can still call NHS 111 for urgent dental advice. If patients do call NHS 111 with a dental issue between 8am and 10pm they will automatically be redirected to the new Greater Manchester Urgent Dental Care Telephony Service.

Patients meeting the criteria will be offered a 20 minute appointment at a choice of locations across all 10 Greater Manchester localities from 9am to 9pm Monday to Friday and from 9am to 1pm over weekends and Bank Holidays.
